What a weekend of running for Harriers women!
Helen Soiris, Claire Sheldon, Su Ward and Ruth Keeley were flying the flag at the Wolfspit fell race, the first in the fell series, both in a runnning and marshalling capacity. To quote Su, it involved “running up a blinking massive hill -twice!” Having seen the photos, I can see that this was no small achievement , so well done all. Looks like you were rewarded with spectacular views.
On the road today were myself and Amy Robinson, running the Ashby 20. Whilst we didn’t match Chris and Trev’s fantastic performances, we were pleased to get round a tough course, finishing in 3 hrs 3 mins and 3hrs 7 mins respectively. Whilst the hills were not steep, there seemed to be a lot of them and on the second lap, they felt even longer, particularly at mile 18! Had there been a prize for best dressed runner, Amy would have definitely won it , in her matching patterned top and trainers ( I wouldn’t normally comment on these things , but they were amazing!)
Last, but definitely not least, the indomitable Clare Cooper completed the Hardmoors 55 mile race , with 2,800 metres of ascent thrown in for good measure. This is an amazing achievement and one I will never try replicating! Clare Cooper – I salute you.
