Up to this point, we’ve had various Messenger groups, various WhatsApp Chat groups and none of them connecting or making it easy for people to stay in touch about what’s important to them in running. Additionally, many people are not on Facebook either. Group emails are good but do not encourage discussion.

Hence, we now have a brand new Belper Harriers Community on WhatsApp.

What’s this?

• Well, it’s a umbrella collection of chat groups which members can join.
• When you join the community you are presented with a list of groups you can join
• Each group has a theme so “Fell race chat” or “Marathon chat”.
• Some chat groups are locked to specific users only (you’ll see a padlock) for example the committee. Members can create their own groups too but this will be very ocassional – for perhaps a specific race EG Haworth Hobble.
• Community Announcements will go out from community admins to all community members. Members cannot reply to announcements, it’s one way info out only.
• This will replace all current messenger and whatsapp groups.
• You can “mute” all groups that have excessive replies to avoid your disruption.
• By joining the community your phone number will not be visible to other community members.
• Only when you start chatting in groups will your number be visible to fellow club members.
• Only members can join the community
• When your membership lapses, your time in the Community ends.
• In joining any group you consent to your number being visible to fellow Club Members only. You can be in the community without sharing your number.
