Autumn Updates you may have missed

Hi folks,

We’ve got a few updates just in case you’ve missed them on the WhatsApp Community – namely Grasmere Trail Weekend, UTMB and Xmas Awards night in December and the XC Introduction Taster Session in November

GRASMERE TRAIL WEEKEND, MAY 26

The wait is finally over โ€ฆ another 2026 Belper Harriers weekend away is here. The Grasmere Gallop is a weekend festival of running, with something for everyone.ย  Set in the village of Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District over the weekend of Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May, there are 5 races and various navigation options available. We plan on attending this en mass with runners entering themselves in whichever races they fancy and choosing a camping option (plus showers).

The Festival of Running includes a fully heated marquee, bar, food outlets, workshops, guest speakers and (running related!) shopping opportunities. Camping is available on-site but likely to sell out quickly, so advisable to book when signing up for your race.ย  Heated showers are also available but again a weekend pass is required. Camper vans can also book into the festival site but there are no electric hook ups.

Grasmere is fairly small with some limited accommodation available; the larger town of Ambleside just 4 miles away with plenty of B&B options. Entries will open โ€œsoonโ€ so save the weekend in your diaries! Further information can be found at Grasmere Gallop – 29th – 31st May 2026 – Grasmere Gallop and Lake District Running Festival. PLEASE JOIN THE WHATSAPP GROUP GRASMERE GALLOP 2026 where we will coordinate.

ULTRA TOUR MATLOCK BATH, Sat 20th December

Once again, many of us will be heading out to tackle either the half or full UTMB which is our backyard Ultra. Link on our website here. This year we are hoping to have 3 groups set off around 730-830am with our first reconvene point being Matlock Bath. Some will then finish their run there with coffee and cake and hop on the train home. The keener ones amongst us will carry on to complete the Riber Castle / Crich Stand and Crich Chase side of the route to notch up about 29 miles and 4,500ft ascent. PLEASE JOIN THE UTMB WHATSAPP GROUP and we will coordinate on there

Returning to the Kings Head in Central Belper, this is our annual chance to look back at our individual and team successes. You don’t have to be the fastest or run the furthest to be eligible for an award from the team captains on this night, so come along and enjoy catching up, some drinks, food and a good old dance. Tickets will be available shortly in the Club Shop so add the date to your calendar now
