Track Sessions

The First Thursday of every month we head down to the floodlit running track at Ilkeston for some short sharp speed work.

Do not worry! Everyone works at their own pace and there’s likely to be other people at your pace to train with.

Meet 655pm Trackside. To get trackside, go through main reception (no need to advise the receptionist unless you need to ask her for direction to track) and head down the stairs and out the doors. We meet down there.

Cost £2 cash

You do not need running spikes and these are not advised unless you really know what you’re doing as they can easily cause injury to the unitiated due to the aggressive footbed shape.

Sessions vary but involve warmup, progressive repeats of anything from 200m, 400m, 600m, 800m up to 1mile. Normally no more than 5km in total and complete in under the hour.

Sessions are normally run by Malc Weir who has years of experience.
